The term dry cleaning sounds like the process is dry, but it is not. The fabric is soaked in a chemical solvent like PERC or other hydrocarbons inside a washing drum. Dry cleaning has benefits like no color bleeding and good removal of oil and dirt. So, one or two dry cleanings in the lifetime of a saree is fine.
