Flying fox bats are the largest bats in the world, easily recognised by their fox-like faces and impressive wingspans. Unlike smaller bats that use echolocation, they depend on their sharp eyesight and strong sense of smell to find their way. When gathered in large colonies, they often let out loud, repetitive barking sounds to communicate, defend their territory, or warn others of danger.
