40K views · 3K reactions | Scarf joints. These are a much better choice for splicing moldings than a standard butt joint. Scarf joints greatly reduce the risk of being able to “see into” a joint. Scarf joints also increase the surface area of a molding which provides more area for wood glue to bond and work. The angle doesn’t have to be 45 degrees. 22.5, whatever you want.
